Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:
-
You have a Windows Server 2008 R2 failover cluster in a network.
-
You create some groups. For example, you create four groups.
-
You add the same string to the AntiAffinityClassNames common property of all the groups, and then move the groups to the same node.
-
You perform one of the following operations:
-
You stop and then start a node.
-
You evict and then add a node.
-
In this scenario, the AntiAffinityClassNames property does not work, and all anti-affined groups are moved to the new node. You expect that either the groups should not be moved, or that only one group is moved to the new node.
Cause
This issue occurs because the algorithm that is used to determine the destination node does not honor the AntiAffinityClassNames property.
Resolution
Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.

Prerequisites
To apply this hotfix, you must be running Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1). Registry information
To apply this hotfix, you do not have to change the registry.
Restart requirement
You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. Additionally, must restart the Cluster service after you install this hotfix.
Hotfix replacement information
This hotfix does not replace a previously released hotfix.

Windows Server 2008 R2 file information notes
