Symptoms
When you click Update in Microsoft System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection for Mac to update the virus signature database, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:
An error occurred while downloading update files.
Server not found.
Cause
This issue can occur if the following conditions are true:

The Regular automatic update option is turned on.

The computer is not connected to the Internet when the update task is scheduled to run.
For example, this issue can occur if you are not connected to the Internet when the update task is scheduled to run.
Note By default, System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection for Mac checks for updates every hour.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, turn off the Regular automatic update option. To do this, follow these steps:

Open System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection for Mac. To do this, click the System Center Endpoint Protection for Mac icon in the menu bar, and then click Open System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection.

Click Activate advanced mode.

Click Tools, and then click Scheduler.

Click to clear the Regular automatic update check box.
More Information
After you click to clear the Regular automatic update check box, System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection for Mac will not automatically check for updates. To update System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection for Mac manually, click the System Center Endpoint Protection for Mac icon in the menu bar, and then click Update.
