This article applies to Microsoft Dynamics AX for the India (in) region.

INTRODUCTION

This article describes that a country-specific update is available to add accounting codes for service tax payments in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Service Pack 1 (SP1) with the India localization layer installed.

More Information

The service tax department issued service tax accounting codes for payments of service tax. Different accounting codes are applicable for service tax payments that use different service categories.

Service taxes are paid to government periodically through the TR-6 Challan, in which you must display separate accounting code for each service category and tax component. To obtain the service tax amount for each service category, you have to attach the service code with each transaction line on the tax information tab in all orders and journals.

After you run the settlement process for service tax, the system will generate a report to display due service taxes to tax authorities. To view the bifurcation of the payable service taxes for service categories and tax components, a new report is added in the Report folder (General Ledger>Report> External > Sales tax payment). You can see the summarized or detail view of service tax payable amount through the report.

When you make a payment of service tax on an account of different services, you can use the single TR-6 Challan. Additionally, to make separate payment for each service category, an option to edit the amounts to settle with authorities is added in the payment journal.
