0xc0000006 error when a Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1-based client computer sends SMBv2 requests

Symptoms


Assume that a Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)-based or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1-based client computer sends requests to a server by using the Server Message Block version 2 (SMBv2) protocol (also known as SMB2). The SMBv2 responses are delayed by the server. In this situation, the client computer is temporarily disconnected from the server, and you receive an error message on the client computer. For example, you may receive one of the following error messages:

ERROR_INVALID_HANDLE
Note This issue can typically occur when the server is under a heavy load. For example, the server delays the SMBv2 responses because of high disk latency.
