Applies to: Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 3, Exchange Server 2010 Enterprise, Exchange Server 2010 Standard
Consider the following scenario:
You apply Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 3 (SP3) on a Windows Server 2012 server.
You create a Rich Text Format (RTF) email message and insert a picture into the message body.
You try to send the email message to an external recipient.
In this scenario, the email message remains in the Submission queue and is not sent. Additionally, you receive the following error message when you run the Get-Queue cmdlet in Exchange Management Shell (EMS):
Last error: A storage transient failure had occurred during content conversion.
This issue occurs because Windows Server 2012 uses a new behavior in the transport pipeline.
To resolve this issue, install the following update rollup:
2866475 Description of Update Rollup 2 for Exchange Server 2010 SP3
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
