August 12, 2014 update for Outlook 2013 (KB2881011)

An issue has been discovered in the August 12, 2014, update for Microsoft Outlook 2013 that prevents some users from opening archived folders. We have removed this update from availability, and we have corrected this issue in update KB2889859 .


This article describes update KB2881011 for Microsoft Outlook 2013 that was released on August 12, 2014. This update also applies to Office Home and Student 2013 RT, which contains Outlook 2013.

This update includes stability and performance improvements. Please note that this update does not apply to Office 365 editions, such as Office 365 Home.

  • Some holidays have incorrect dates and inaccurate translations.

This update applies to the Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Outlook 2013. It does not apply to the Outlook 2013 Click-to-Run editions such as Microsoft Office 365 Home.

How to determine whether my Office installation is Click-to-Run or MSI-based:
  1. Start Outlook 2013.
  2. On the File menu, click Account.
  3. For Office 2013 Click-to-Run installations, an Update Options item is displayed. For MSI-based installations, the Update Options item is not displayed.
