FIX: Access violation occurs when you delete rows from a table that has clustered columnstore index in SQL Server 2014

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You create a clustered columnstore index on a table in Microsoft SQL Server 2014.
  • You drop the first column of the table.
  • You restart SQL Server, and then delete rows from the table.
In this scenario, an access violation occurs.

Resolution

The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server.

Recommendation: Install the latest cumulative update for SQL Server

Workaround

To work around this issue, rebuild the affected index.
