This article describes update KB3115162 for Microsoft Excel 2013, which was released on June 7, 2016. This update also applies to Office Home and Student 2013 RT. This update has a prerequisite.

Be aware that the update in the Microsoft Download Center applies to the Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2013. It doesn't apply to the Office 2013 Click-to-Run editions, such as Microsoft Office 365 Home. (How to determine?)

Improvements and fixes

  • This update deletes the Power View button from the Import Data dialog box except for connections to Analysis Services. See more information about the Power View roadmap.

  • When you launch Excel by using the Excel icon, you can create a separate Excel.exe process.

Note To enable this functionality, you need to follow the instructions in the "Registry information" section.

  • Fixes the following issues:

    • When you use the 32-bit version of Excel 2013 to process large data in the 64-bit version of Windows, you receive the following error messages:

Excel cannot complete this task with available resources. Choose less data or close other applications. Continue without Undo.

There isn't enough memory to complete this action.

For example, this issue occurs when you update a large pivot table in the 32-bit version of Excel 2013. See KB3160741 for more information.

    • When you scroll a worksheet in Excel 2013, text that's wrapped and centered across selection isn't displayed.

    • When you set the name of a range to a custom user-defined function name in Excel 2013, Excel 2013 crashes.
