Note To determine which OneDrive sync client you're using, see the following Microsoft website:
- You're not prompted for sign-in.
- No synchronization of files occurs, and no error message is displayed.
- If you’re also running OneDrive personal, and you click Settings on the Add a Business account dialog box, nothing happens.
Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.
- Navigate to the following registry key:
- Check the following key:
DisableFileSyncNGSC = DWORD:1
If you decide to manually change this key or to remove the key without having your administrator change the policy for your computer, the next time the policy runs (typically after a restart, after you sign in to Windows, or after periodic updates), the policy is reapplied, and OneDrive for Business won't start again.
If your company’s administrator decides to disable OneDrive’s consumer sync client but to enable OneDrive for Business, see Administrative settings for the OneDrive for Business Next Generation Sync Client.
