How to get and install the update
Method 1: Windows Update
This security update is available through Windows Update. When you turn on automatic updating and plug in affected Microsoft wireless mouse device the first time, this security update will be downloaded and installed automatically. For more information about how to turn on automatic updating, see Get security updates automatically.
If you want to manually install this security update, plug in the affected Microsoft wireless mouse device, and then use one of the following methods, depending on your operating system:

In Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, open Control Panel, and then select Windows Update > Check for updates > Optional > Microsoft - Keyboard - Wireless Keyboard Filter Device > Install. This security update will be downloaded and installed.

In Windows 10 and other Windows operating systems where you can't find Microsoft - Keyboard - Wireless Keyboard Filter Device by running Check for updates, you can get the stand-alone package for this security update from the Microsoft Update Catalog website and manually install the update. For more information, see the following topic.
How to manually obtain this security update from Windows Update Catalog

Go to Microsoft Update Catalog - Wireless Keyboard Filter Device.

Click Add for the update you want.

Click Add for the update you want.

Select view basket > Download, and then select a location for the download.

Click Continue, and then wait until the download process is finished.

How to install this security update

Go to the location at which the update was downloaded.

Locate the "Microsoft - Keyboard - Wireless Keyboard Filter Device" folder, and then extract the files from the .cab file.

Open an elevated Command prompt in the folder where the extracted driver is located, and then type the following command:
pnputil -i -a WirelessKeyboardFilter.inf
-
Wait until the installation is finished.
-
Locate the "Microsoft - Pointing Drawing - Wireless Device" folder, and then extract the files from the .cab file.

Open an elevated Command prompt in the folder where the extracted driver is located, and then type the following command:
pnputil -i -a WirelessDevice.inf
-
Wait until the installation is finished.
Note the commands that are listed in steps 3 and 6 may fail if the driver has already been installed. See the How to verify that the update was installed section.

How to verify that the update was installed

Click Start, type run, and then select Run.

Enter %SystemRoot%\system32\DriverStore\FileRepository, and then click OK.

In the FileRepository folder, search to see whether there are two folders. One folder has the name of the wirelesskeyboardfilter.inf string and the other folder has the name of the wirelessdevice.inf string.Note If there are multiple folders, this means there are multiple versions.
