FIX: Can't insert the NULL value into "ArgumentScript" column when you apply a business rule in SQL Server 2016 MDS

This issue occurs when you use the Business Rules Extension feature (Master Data Services) in the following scenario:
  • You create a user-defined function that takes an argument in Microsoft SQL Server 2016.
  • You create a business rule that takes that function as a condition or as an action.
  • You set Blank as the parameter value.
  • You publish the business rule.
In this scenario, when you apply this business rule, you may receive the following exception:
Cannot insert the value NULL into column "ArgumentScript"

The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server:
Recommendation: Install the latest cumulative update for SQL Server
