Introduction

This article describes the issues that are fixed in Update Rollup 2 for Microsoft System Center 2016 Orchestrator - Service Provider Foundation. Additionally, this article contains the installation instructions for this update rollup. We recommend that you apply this update rollup as part of your regular maintenance routines.

Issues that are fixed

This update rollup package fixes the following issues.

Issue 1

The SPFUsage API cannot retrieve usage information.

Issue 2

The PowerShell Update-Help cmdlet cannot retrieve the latest System Center 2016 Service Provider Foundation PowerShell documentation.

Issue 3

Symptoms You cannot use the “mark public” command or remove a resource definition package (*.resdefpkg) after you import it in Web Application Proxy (WAP) if you are using Microsoft SQL Server 2016.

Workaround Set the compatibility level of the SQL database to 120. To determine how to set the database compatibility level, see the following guide on Microsoft Learn:

Update packages for Orchestrator - Service Provider Foundation are available from Microsoft Update or by manual download.

Microsoft Update

To obtain and install an update package from Microsoft Update, follow these steps on a computer that has a Service Provider Foundation component installed:

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

  2. In Control Panel, double-click Windows Update.

  3. In the Windows Update window, click Check Online for updates from Microsoft Update.

  4. Click Important updates are available.

  5. Select the Update Rollup package, and then click OK.

  6. Click Install updates to install the update package.

If your computer is running Windows Server 2016 or later, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, and then click Settings.

  2. In Settings, click Updates & Security.

  3. On the Windows Update tab, click Check Online for updates from Microsoft Update.

  4. Click Important updates are available.

  5. Select the Update Rollup package, and then click OK.

  6. Click Install updates to install the update package.

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.

Installation instructions

To manually install the update package, run the following command at an elevated command prompt:

msiexec.exe /update kb3209598_Microsoft.SystemCenter.Foundation.Setup_x64.msp

Note This update is not listed in the Programs and Features item in Control Panel after you install it.  

To uninstall this update, use one of the following commands:

  • If you have the original MSI installation media for Orchestrator - Service Provider Foundation and the .msp file for this update, run the following command:msiexec.exe /package Microsoft.SystemCenter.Foundation.Setup_x64.msi /uninstall kb3209598_Microsoft.SystemCenter.Foundation.Setup_x64.msp /passive

  • If you don't have the original files, you can remove this update by using the GUID references. To do this, run the following command:msiexec.exe /package {69344E86-7183-4384-A230-499E9914BE14} /uninstall { 6E8FF74F-9E32-4191-9820-63E7B1883F91} /passive

Important To use this command line, Orchestrator - Service Provider Foundation Update Rollup 4 must be installed. Otherwise, uninstalling this update will fail.
