To make sure you’re running the latest version of your phone’s operating system, download the latest updates for your phone. If you’re using an older phone, the manufacturer may not have released a new version of the operating system for your phone.

Check your phone’s settings to see which version of the operating system your phone uses. To learn where to find that info, check the documentation that came with your phone or go to the manufacturer’s website.

Step 1: On your phone’s home screen, swipe left to the App list.
Step 2: Tap Settings
The Settings Tile
 > About.
Step 3: Next to Software, look for the Windows Phone product name.

You can install the Microsoft Band app if you’re running Windows Phone 8.1, but you’ll need to install Windows Phone 8.1 Update to use Cortana and some notification features. If your mobile operator hasn’t released the update yet, you can install it through the Microsoft Band app.

See the Windows Phone Update Central

product support page for more info on updates.

Step 1: On your phone’s home screen, tap Settings.

Because of the wide variety of Android phones, we can’t provide a definitive list of the ones that will work with Microsoft Band and the Microsoft Band app.

Step 1:

On your phone’s home screen, tap the Apps Menu.
This varies from phone to phone but looks like a grid of squares.
