This security update resolves vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office that could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted Office file. Note To apply this security update, you must have the release version of Outlook 2016 installed on the computer.
Be aware that the update in the Microsoft Download Center applies to the Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2016. It doesn't apply to the Office 2016 Click-to-Run editions, such as Microsoft Office 365 Home (see Determining your Office version).
Improvements and fixes
- Translates some terms in multiple languages to make sure that the meaning is accurate.
- Fixes translation for the string “-----Original Appointment-----” in Chinese Simplified version of Outlook 2016.
- Fixes an issue in which some attachments to plain text messages are removed when you forward the message.
Fixes the following issues:
When you drag an email message to a location outside Outlook by right-clicking and then selecting Move here, Outlook copies the message instead of moving it.
When you try to open a message that contains external content, Outlook 2016 freezes if you don’t have Internet access.
