Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You use email subscriptions in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

  • You upgrade from SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services to SQL Server 2016 Reporting Services.

  • On the Subscription page in SQL Server 2016 Reporting Services, there are multiple semi-colons (;) between the email subscription addresses on the To line.

In this scenario, the data-driven subscription fails, and you receive the following error message:

An invalid character was found in the mail header: ','
The entire subscription fails without generating the email.
