Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:
-
Draft messages are created by Visual Basic Scripting (VBScript) in a shared mailbox Draft folder in the Microsoft Outlook 2016 client on a computer.
-
A user is granted full access and send on behalf permissions for the shared mailbox, and the mailbox is automatically added to their Outlook profile.
-
The user sends the draft messages on behalf of the mailbox in the Outlook 2016 client on the same or a different computer.
In this scenario, the user receives a non-delivery report (NDR) message that resembles the following:
From: shared_mailbox_name
Sent: date time To: Test@contoso.com Subject: Undeliverable: TEST Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: TEST Sent: date time The following recipient(s) cannot be reached: Display_name on The recipient has been deleted or has no e-mail address.Cause
This issue occurs because detection of the message in Outlook leaves unresolved recipients when the EntryID or Address type property of the message is not populated correctly.
