FIX: Access violations and unhandled exceptions occur when you set automatic seeding for secondary replica or DAG replica in SQL Server 2016

Assume that you use AlwaysOn Availability Groups (AG) in Microsoft SQL Server 2016. When you set automatic seeding for secondary replica or Distributed Availability Group (DAG) replica, access violations and unhandled exceptions may occur.


This issue is fixed in the following cumulative update for SQL Server:

Cumulative Update 11 for SQL Server 2016 SP1


To work around this issue, use one of the following methods:

  • Do not use automatic seeding.
