Summary

This update improves and fixes the following issues when you use a Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC) environment in Microsoft SQL Server:

  • Improvements to Change Data Capture (CDC) to be more tolerable when an RAC node goes down and then restarts.

  • Fixes an issue that occurs when you use the application to call the CDC interface if the CDC is not working. In this situation, you receive the following error message from the v$log:

    ORACDC517E:Oracle Call Interface (OCI) method failed: ORA-00904: "NEXT_CHANGE#": invalid identifier

Resolution

This update is included in the following updates for SQL Server:

          Cumulative Update 14 for SQL Server 2017

          Cumulative Update 5 for SQL Server 2016 Service Pack 2

Cumulative Update 15 for SQL Server 2014 Service Pack 2

Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and security fixes that were in the previous build. We recommend that you install the latest build for your version of SQL Server: 

          Latest cumulative update for SQL Server 2017

          Latest cumulative update for SQL Server 2016
