This article describes update 4484454 for Microsoft Office 2010 that was released on August 4, 2020.

Be aware that the update in the Microsoft Download Center applies to the Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2010. It doesn't apply to the Office 2010 Click-to-Run editions, such as Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Student (see  What version of Office am I using?).

Improvements and fixes

This update contains the following improvements:

  • Adds a business bar to let users know how to handle modern comments that are not understood in Office 2010.
The business bar works as follows:

    • The business bar will show anytime a file that has modern comments opened.

    • The business bar will give users options to save the file as a cloud file if it isn't already, and to open the file in the web app to view the comments.

    • When the business bar shows, all comments-related buttons on the Review tab are disabled.

Additionally, the document inspector won't be able to detect modern comments in the file and thus users won't be able to anonymize them.

  • Improves translations in all languages versions of PowerPoint 2010 to show the business bar notification.

Note To enable these improvements, you must install 4092435 together with this update.
