FIX: Parallel sampled filtered statistics may cause incorrect histogram scaling in SQL Server

Symptoms


Assume that you create a filtered statistic in Microsoft SQL Server. Ifthe filtered statistics creation or update is sampled and uses a parallel planinternally, the resulting histogram may be scaled incorrectly, as seen from output of DBCC SHOW_STATISTICS. Additionally, the header for DBCC SHOW_STATISTICS mayincorrectly show that the value for "Rows Sampled" is equal to the value for "Rows" instead of correctly showing that "Rows Sampled" is less than the valuefor "Rows."

Status


Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
