If certain Bluetooth Low Energy Audio (LE Audio) earbuds or speakers are not correctly paired to your PC, it’s possible for audio to only play in one channel/ear.

Generally, this issue can occur during the process of connecting the earbuds or speakers to your PC, if both the left and right devices do not both successfully connect to the PC.

This issue can also occur if you have previously connected your earbuds or speakers to your PC, and your PC, earbuds or speakers receive a software update from the manufacturer that adds LE Audio support.

Re-pair your Bluetooth earbuds or speakers

To fix an issue where you only hear audio in one channel of your Bluetooth earbuds or speakers, re-pair the device with your PC:

  1. Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices .

  2. Select Devices .

    Open Bluetooth & devices settings

  3. Scroll to the Audio section and find your earbuds or speakers.

  4. Select More options  and then select Remove Device.

  5. If you are using Bluetooth earbuds, place both earbuds in their charging cradle.

  6. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to place your Bluetooth earbuds or speakers into pairing mode. Generally, there is a button on the device or charging cradle that can be pressed or held to enter pairing mode.

  7. Select Add device and then select Bluetooth.

  8. Wait for your earbuds or speakers to appear in the list, and then select them from the list to begin connecting.

  9. When prompted to connect the second earbud or speaker, select the option to connect it.
