Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. Two documents are open in Microsoft Office Word 2003 or in Microsoft Office Word 2007. Both documents contain hidden text. You move to one document so that this document is the active document. Then, you configure the option to show hidden text. In this scenario, only the active document shows hidden text. These symptoms also occur when you configure options to show other formatting marks.

Note The options to show formatting marks are in Word Options.

Cause

This behavior occurs because the options to show formatting marks are document-specific options.
