INTRODUCTION
This article describes a hotfix package that contains the latest fixes for Microsoft Application Virtualization 4.5 Service Pack 1 (App-V 4.5 SP1) and that is dated July 2010.
Note We recommend that you test hotfixes before you deploy them in a production environment. Because the builds are cumulative, each new hotfix release contains all fixes that were included with the previous update package. We recommend that you apply the most recent hotfix release that contains the hotfixes that you want.
This hotfix package addresses the following issue:

When you try to launch applications by using an App-V client, you may receive the "Starting launch" message, and the application is not launched. Additionally, an application launch does not work after this issue occurs, and you have to restart the computer to resolve this issue.
Resolution
Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.

Prerequisites
To apply this hotfix, you must have Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) 4.5 Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed.
