Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have permission to rename or delete files that are stored on a Network File System (NFS) share and that are exported from a Windows Server 2008-based NFS server.

  • You try to rename or delete a file on the NFS share by using a NFS client computer.

  • The parent directory of the file does not have a cached entry.

In this scenario, you receive a "permission denied" error.

Cause

This issue occurs because the user permission check cannot function correctly when the parent directory of the file does not have a cached entry.
