Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You install and configure Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services (SSRS 2008 R2) on a computer that also hosts Internet Information Services (IIS).

  • You try to access the Report manager page by using the following URL address:

http://<server name>/reportsNote <server name> is a placeholder for the name of the computer that hosts reporting services.

In this scenario, you incorrectly receive a logon dialog box.

Additionally, a logon attempt may fail and the website might not open if you do not have permission to access the IIS website.

Cause

This issue occurs because the Report Manager page incorrectly references /images/blank.gif that is not handled by SSRS 2008 R2 and that is handled by IIS.
