Assume that you use Microsoft Outlook in online mode in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 environment. Additionally, assume that your mailbox reaches the quota limit. In this situation, the Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access service (Microsoft.Exchange.RpcClientAccess.Service.exe) freezes on the Client Access server. When this issue occurs, users cannot access their mailboxes. Additionally, the following event is logged in the Application log on the Client Access server:
Log Name: Application Source: MSExchange Common Date: Date&Time Event ID: 4999 Task Category: General Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: Computer Description: Watson report about to be sent for process id: ProcessID, with parameters: E12, BuildType, VersionNumber, M.E.RpcClientAccess.Service, M.Exchange.StoreProvider, M.M.MapiProp.SaveChanges, M.E.D.Storage.QuotaExceededException-19665, xxx-xxxx, VersionNumber. ErrorReportingEnabled: True
This issue occurs because the RPC Client Access service does not handle a QuotaExceededException exception correctly. When this exception occurs, Windows Error Reporting (WER) collects any exception information. The RPC Client Access service does not respond until WER is stopped.
To resolve this issue, install the following update rollup:
2891587 Description of Update Rollup 3 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 3
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
