In Outlook, you may want to send an e-mail message to more than one person but not want the recipients to know that other people are receiving the same message. This article describes how to hide e-mail addresses from other recipients.

To hide e-mail addresses from other recipients, type the recipients addresses in the Bcc field of the e-mail message:

In Outlook 2010 and later versions

  1. On the Home tab, click New E-Mail.
  2. On the Optionstab, click Bcc.
  3. In the box next to Bcc, type the recipients' addresses.

In Outlook 2007 and earlier versions

  1. On the Filemenu, point to New, and then click Mail Message.
  2. In the Untitled message, on the Viewmenu, click Bcc Field.

    NoteIn Office Outlook 2007, in the Untitiled message, click Show Bcc in Fieldsgroup on the Optionmenu.
  3. In the box next to Bcc, type the recipients' addresses.
Note If a recipient uses Microsoft Outlook 97 with the original Internet Mail service, the contents of the Bcc field may be visible.
