Applies ToWindows 8.1 Windows Server 2012 R2 Windows RT 8.1

This update applies to Microsoft .NET Native when they are used together with Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, or Windows RT 8.1.

Symptoms

Error reports that are sent for .NET Native applications may restrict the investigation of the root causes of errors. The performance of .NET Native applications may be slightly (by a few percentage points) lower than ideal. This issue occurs in Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2.

Cause

This issue occurs because some information may not be included in error reports that are sent by Windows Error Reporting (WER) that can limit analysis capabilities of such reports that are sent for .NET Native applications. .NET Native applications that run on x64 and x86 systems will rely only on an app-local runtime without any system services that may result in less than optimal performance of .NET Native applications.

Resolution

This update contains the necessary services to allow capturing of error reports that contain relevant root-cause analysis data. This update also improves the performance of .NET Native applications.

This update is available from Windows Update.
