Symptoms

A Configuration Manager client cannot communicate with its assigned management point when it is configured for HTTPS communications. This problem occurs when a third-party trusted root certification authority is defined in the properties of the site server. In this situation, entries that resemble the following are logged in the ClientIDManagerStartup.log file:

Finding certificate by issuer chain returned error 80092004
Unable to find any Certificate based on Certificate Issuers


Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. To apply this hotfix, you must have Cumulative Update 3 for System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager installed.
