FIX: SQL Server 2012 SP2 CU2 cannot install the SQL Writer update when the SQL Server is non-English version

Assume that you use Microsoft SQL Server 2012 non-English version. When you install SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 2 (SP2) Cumulative Update 2 (CU2), the SQL Writer component is patched incorrectly. The setup procedure does not detect the SQL Writer installation, and you receive the following messages in Details.txt:
(01) <Date><Time> Slp: Package ID SqlWriter_Cpu64: NotInstalled
(01) <Date><Time> Slp: Patch Id: KB2983175_SqlWriter_Cpu64 - The baseline msi is not installed. The patch package is ignored.
(01) <Date><Time> Slp: Patch Id: KB2983175_SqlWriter_Cpu64 - Detail description of this patch package is: PatchId=KB2983175_SqlWriter_Cpu64 PatchVersion=11.2.5548.0 BaselinePackageId=SqlWriter_Cpu64 BaselineVersion=11.2.5058.0; PatchFileName=SqlWriter.msp PatchCode={33295EAB-AEEA-4012-AF9B-0D3A092F5FEB}

  • After the installation, the version of the sqlwriter.exe file is 11.0.5058.0 that is SP2 version. However, it should be 11.0.5548.0 that is SP2 CU2 version.
