FIX: "Cannot access the specified path or file on the server" when you use CSV in SSMS to back up or restore database

When you try to use Clustered Shared Volumes (CSV) as a source or destination in performing a backup or restore database activity in Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Management Studio (SSMS 2014), you receive the following error message:
<file path of the backup file>
Cannot access the specified path or file on the server. Verify that you have the necessary security privileges and that the path or file exists. If you know that the service account can access a specific file, type in the full path for the file in the File Name control in the Locate dialog box.

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods:
  • Use TSQL statements to perform the backup or restore database activity in a new query window.
  • Instead of browsing to the CSV path manually, enter the path and file name in the Backup or Restore Database wizard when you select the location.
