MS16-004: Description of the security update for Visio 2013: January 12, 2016
This security update resolves vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office that could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted Microsoft Office file. To learn more about these vulnerabilities, see Microsoft Security Bulletin MS16-004
To apply this security update, you must have the release version of Service Pack 1 for Visio 2013
installed on the computer.
For a complete list of affected versions of Microsoft Office software, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 3124585
Improvements and fixes
This update also contains fixes for the following nonsecurity issues:
- After you save a Visio drawing that contains ActiveX controls and VBA macros in Visio 2013, the digital signature may be lost.
- When you click a hyperlink in a Visio document that is located on a SharePoint 2013 server, the linked file may not open. This issue occurs if the name of the linked file contains characters that are not in the Latin character set (for example, Cyrillic letters).
