Symptoms
When you use the window.location.href property to open a new webpage on a site that has Enterprise Mode enabled in Internet Explorer 11, the document.referrer element is not null as expected on the new webpage.
Note In Internet Explorer 8, document.referrer is null as expected in this scenario.
Resolution
To fix this issue, install the most recent cumulative security update for Internet Explorer. To do this, go to Microsoft Update. Additionally, see the technical information about the most recent cumulative security update for Internet Explorer.
