Summary

This security update resolves an information disclosure vulnerability that exists if Microsoft Excel incorrectly discloses the contents of its memory. To learn more about the vulnerability, see Microsoft Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures CVE-2019-1446 and Microsoft Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures CVE-2019-1448.

Note To apply this security update, you must have the release version of Service Pack 2 for Office 2010 installed on the computer.

Be aware that the update in the Microsoft Download Center applies to the Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2010. It doesn't apply to the Office 2010 Click-to-Run editions, such as Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 (see What version of Office am I using?).

Known issues in this security update

After you install this update, you receive the following error message when you restrict permissions within a workbook or open a workbook that has Information Rights Management (IRM) applied: 

Manifest does not match the executable; recreate the manifest by rebuilding the application.

When this issue occurs, no changes are made to the file.

To fix this issue, install update 4484196.
