Symptom

For PCs that support high dynamic range (HDR), when the Change brightness automatically when lighting changes check box is selected, it may take longer than expected for display brightness to change when ambient lighting changes.

Cause

On HDR displays, Windows optimizes the automatic brightness adjustment behavior to better match how the human eye perceives brightness changes. As a result, brightness adjustments will take more time compared to non-HDR displays.
