Symptoms
Updates released July 25, 2023, or later have changes that might affect preinstalled applications. They might not update as you expect. Preinstalled applications are commonly bundled on new devices. Bundling processes that rely on the Windows Desktop App Management configuration service provider (CSP) to track application installation and version status can be affected. Because of this, applications might seem as if they are not installed on a device even when they are. Your record of the applications that are installed on all your company’s devices will be wrong.
Please note that the applications are not affected and should work as expected.
Typically, an affected application:
-
Is a Win32 app.
-
Relies on Microsoft installer (MSI) files and Unified endpoint management (UEM) to push the app through device management (DM) channels.
-
Is preinstalled on a device that is a new or a factory configuration.
