Printing Logic of the SOP Blank, Short, Long, or Other Invoice Form

Resolution:

Here is an overview of the printing logic of the SOP Blank, Short, Long, or Other invoice forms:

1.) The RH always prints on the top of the first page.

2.) The PH prints on the top of all other pages. If it is only a one page invoice form, the PH will never print.

3.) H1 will never print. This is because this section is being suppressed by a calculated field, whose value is always zero.

4.) H2 prints the line items.

5.) H3 prints kit components. This section only prints if you have a kit on the invoice and you have marked to 'Include Kit Components on the Sales Document Print Options window.

6.) H4 never prints, for the same reason as H1.

7.) H5 never prints, for the same reason as H1.

8.) B only prints if the item has serial or lot numbers.

9.) F5 through F2 print the line item comments. If you do not put comments on the line items, these additional footers will automatically supress.

10.) F1 never prints, for the same reason as H1.

11.) The PF prints on all pages except the last page. If it's a one page invoice, the PF doesn't print. The PF is primarily used for spacing purposes.

12.) The RF prints on the last page. If it's a one page invoice, it is the RF that is printing.

Note Keep the PH and RH the same size, and keep the RF and PF the same size. This is so information from one page does not print on the next page when you print more than one record. Report Writer first examines the RH and PH sections of the report and the RF and PF sections of the report layout. Then, Report Writer determines how many lines can print on the report. The system reserves the space allocated to the Header and to the Footer of the page (RF or PF) before it prints the rest of the report. Report Writer is a single-pass tool. Therefore, when Report Writer starts to print, it does not know that the PF and the RF or the PH and the RH may have different sizes. This causes the overlap in line items. Therefore, RF and PF must have the same size on the report, and RH and PH must have the same size on the report.
