Error message when some file system filter drivers that are transaction-aware are installed on a failover cluster node that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 and that has FSRM installed: "6704 (0x1A30) ERROR_TRANSACTION_ALREADY_ABORTED"
The Failover Clustering feature is installed on some computers that are running Windows Server 2008 R2.
Some file system filter drivers that are transaction-aware are installed on the failover cluster node. For example, the following filter drivers may use the transaction manager:
An FSRM Quota filter driver
An antivirus filter driver
A Hierarchical Storage Management system filter driver
An archival system filter driver
An application or a service creates a transaction and then commits it.
In this scenario, the CommitTransaction function call fails together with the following error message:
6704 (0x1A30) ERROR_TRANSACTION_ALREADY_ABORTED Description: It is too late to perform the requested operation, since the Transaction has already been aborted.
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

To apply this hotfix, your computer must be running Windows Server 2008 R2. Additionally, the Failover Clustering feature and the Microsoft File Server Resource Manager service must be installed.

Windows Server 2008 R2 file information notes
The MANIFEST files (.manifest) and the MUM files (.mum) that are installed for each environment are listed separately in the "Additional file information for Windows Server 2008 R2" section. MUM and MANIFEST files, and the associated security catalog (.cat) files, are extremely important to maintaining the state of the updated component. The security catalog files, for which the attributes are not listed, are signed with a Microsoft digital signature.
