Help Microsoft improve our products by sending optional diagnostic data about how you use the browser, websites you visit, and crash reports.  Microsoft uses diagnostic data to improve our products and services and keep our products secure, up to date, and performing as expected.  Microsoft Edge collects a set of required diagnostic data that’s necessary to keep the product secure, up to date, and performing properly. Whenever we collect data, we want to make sure it’s the right choice for you. Microsoft believes in and practices information collection minimization. We strive to gather only the info we need, and to store it only for as long as it’s needed to improve our products and services.

You can control whether optional diagnostic data associated with your device is shared with Microsoft to solve product issues and help improve Microsoft products and services. Optional diagnostic data includes information like your feature usage, performance data, site load times, memory usage and websites you visit. Information about websites you visit in Microsoft Edge helps us understand how quickly sites load and increases the relevance of search results for all users. The data includes information about the website such as the URL of the page you visit, website metrics, title of the page, how you accessed the page, info about the content of the page, and other relevant info about the page navigation. This data is used to help improve Microsoft products and services for everyone. This includes data from testing new experiences. On Windows 10, these settings are determined by your Windows diagnostic setting. To change your diagnostic data setting, select Start Settings  Privacy  > Diagnostics & feedback . On all other platforms, you can manage the collection of optional diagnostic data in the browser by selecting Settings and more  > Settings  Privacy, search, and services  and turning on or off Optional diagnostic data.

Other apps using Microsoft Edge web browser. Other applications made by Microsoft or third-party developers may use the Microsoft Edge web platform. An example may be a video streaming app that hosts the Microsoft Edge web platform to stream the video. The Microsoft Edge web platform will send optional diagnostic data including info about how you use the web platform and websites you visit in the application to Microsoft. On Windows 10, optional diagnostic data collection is determined by your Windows diagnostic data setting. On Windows 7/8.1, Microsoft Edge will collect required diagnostic data.
