Commenting in Whiteboard boosts productivity and fosters collaboration by enabling participants to have conversations and share feedback directly on whiteboards. Comments are hidden until interacted with, making it easier to have targeted conversations that encourage participation by a larger group without distracting from the main whiteboard content.

When interacting with comments in Whiteboard, you will see two different items on the canvas:

  • The "Comment Hint" is the little bubble that has your user profile photo or initials that appears on the canvas. This is the "collapsed" version of the comment.

  • The "Comment Card" is what is visible when you click on the Comment Hint. This is the "expanded" version of the comment. This is where you can type, post, and edit your comment, as well as reply to your own and other comments.

How to add a comment on a whiteboard

From the main toolbar:

  • Locate the main toolbar in your whiteboard.

  • Click on the comment icon.

  • Click on the whiteboard where you want the comment placed - this is where the comment hint will show on the whiteboard.

  • Once the comment is placed the comment card will appear - write your comment and click the post button.

  • Your comment is now on the whiteboard where you and others can see and interact with it.

From the alternate click (right click on a mouse) menu:

  • Alternate click anywhere on the whiteboard - this is where the comment hint will show on the whiteboard.

  • In the menu, select "New Comment."

  • Once the comment is placed the comment card will appear - write your comment and click the post button.

  • Your comment is now on the whiteboard where you and others can see and interact with it.

From the object context menu:

  • Select an object, such as a sticky note, text box, or shape.

  • In the context menu that appears, select the "New Comment" icon.

  • The comment will be placed in the middle of the object and the comment card will appear - write your comment and click the post button.

  • Your comment will be anchored to the object it was created on, meaning when you move that object the comment will go with it. You can adjust its position on the object, or remove the anchor functionality, by dragging the comment to the desired area.
