Note: Microsoft Project for the web will soon become Microsoft Planner. You can continue using most of the Project for the web capabilities in the new Planner once it's rolled out to your organization. Learn more about the new Planner in Frequently asked questions about Planner and Planner help & learning.

If you've crafted the perfect project in Project for the web and want to reuse it, you can create a copy.

  1. Open the project.

  2. In the project header, select the three dots (...) and then choose Copy plan.

You'll now be working in the newly copied project, which is named "[Project Name] - Copy".

Everything has been copied from the original project to the copied project except the project's Group members and assignments. When you're ready, you may want to:

  • Rename your project: Select the project's name, and then, in the project details pane, type a new name and choose Enter.

  • Share your project with others by assigning tasks and creating or adding a group: To find out how, see Share a project and assign tasks
