In Communities in Teams, you can create a community to connect with others.

Note: Creating a new community in Teams is only available for Android and iOS users, learn more about Communities (beta) in Teams on desktop.

Create a community from scratch

  1. Tap the Home tab in the Teams app.

  2. Tap Create new community  Teams new community button in the top corner.

  3. Tap Create from scratch.

  4. Tap Teams community add picture to select an emoji or a picture for your community.

  5. Tap Name your community to add a community name, which is required to create your community.

  6. If you wish, tap Description to add one and tap Guidelines to update it for your community.

  7. Tap Create to finish creating your community.

After creating a community, you are the owner. You can search for people to add, share an invite link, or show a QR code to others so they can join your community.

Use a template to create a community

Templates use a preset name and picture to help you get your community started quickly. For example, you can create a Neighborhood or Gaming community to share with others.

  1. Tap the Communities tab in the Teams app.

  2. Tap Create new community  Teams new community button.

  3. Tap the template you want to use, for example, Sport or Volunteering.

  4. Tap the existing community name to customize it if you wish.

  5. To customize your community, you can change the community picture, Description, and Guidelines.

  6. Tap Create to finish creating your community.

After creating a community, you are the owner. You can search for people to add, share an invite link, or show a QR code to others so they can join your community.
