On the Picture Format tab, select  Crop.

Drag the handles
inward or outward to crop the image. Drag the picture itself to re-center the area. -
Select the Crop button again, or press Esc to save your changes.

On the Picture Format tab, select  Crop and choose Auto Crop:
PowerPoint suggests a crop that emphasizes the primary object in the picture. To accept the suggestion, select the Crop button again. To makes adjustments, continue with step 3.
