Customizing the source list of commands
The left-hand panel is a list of available commands you can add to the Word ribbon. Commands can be filtered by category.
Choose commands from   The list of commands you can choose from to add to the ribbon. Select the field to show a list of categories of commands you can work with.
The ribbon list
The right hand panel displays the current ribbon. It can show top level or tool tabs, or both.
Customize the Ribbon   Displays the current ribbon tabs and commands. Select the field to change the view:

All Tabs   Displays main level ribbon tabs and commands, and contextual tools tabs and commands, such as Developer and Table Tools.

Main Tabs   Displays the primary top level ribbon tabs and commands.

Tool Tabs   Displays just the contextual tools tabs and commands, such as Picture Tools.
Add or remove commands

Add >>Â Â Â Adds commands selected in the Choose commands from list to the currently selected custom tab in the Customize the Ribbon list.
To use, select a command in the left hand list, and select a custom tab in the right hand list to add it to and press Add >>.

<< Remove   Removes selected commands from custom tabs or group in the Customize the Ribbon list.
To use, select a Command (from custom tab or group only), Group, or Tab in the right hand list and press << Remove.
Note:Â Commands can only be added to custom Tabs or Groups. You can't add or remove default commands.
Reorder commands, groups, and tabs
You can customize the order in which your tabs, groups, and commands appear on your ribbon toolbar.
Up and down arrows   Move a selected item up or down in the ribbon list.
Custom or default tabs and groups can be moved. If you move a group up or down, but it's at the top or bottom of its tab, it's moved to the adjacent tab. Default commands can't be moved. Commands added to custom tabs or groups can be moved.
Customizing Ribbon items
The structure of the ribbon list (right-hand side) is
Tab > Groups > Commands.Tabs contain one or more groups. Groups contain one or more commands. These buttons let you add or customize them.

New tab   Creates a new top level custom tab below the currently selected tab. User added tabs show the name, followed by (Custom).

New Group   Puts a new custom group into the currently selected tab. You can add groups to new custom tabs or existing tabs. User added groups show the name, followed by (Custom).

Rename   Change the title of any Tab or Group. You can rename commands, but only when added to custom tabs or groups. You can't rename commands listed in default tabs.

Reset   Reset either customization on the current tab, or all customizations. For more info, see Reset your ribbon to the default settings.

Import/Export   Share your ribbon with another person or computer. For more info, see Import or export customizations.
