You can now delete files on Microsoft 365. This is different from hiding, as it will remove the file from your storage and it will only be accessible through your OneDrive Recycle Bin.

Note: You can't delete files that you don't own, files that are currently being edited, or files that have already been deleted.

Delete a file from Microsoft 365 on the web

  1. Open the Microsoft 365 (Office) app, or if you're using a web browser go to micosoft365.com. If prompted, sign with your Microsoft account, or work or school account.

  2. On the home page under Quick access (or from My Content), find the file you'd like to delete.

  3. Select ... More options and select Delete. Confirm that you'd like to delete this file. (If the file is in a shared location such as a SharePoint folder, select Go to file location to complete the process.)
