If you're looking for a specific word or phrase in your presentation, workbook, or document, use Find to search for it.

Find for iPhone and iPad

Note: Currently, PowerPoint doesn't support Find and Replace.

  1. To search your presentation for certain words or phrases, tap the  Search magnifying glass icon Find icon in the upper-right corner.

  2. Enter a word or phrase you want to find in your presentation.

  3. To get to more search options, tap  More find options button icon. Options to the left of the search box.

    You'll see two options you can turn on or off.

    1. Match Case will match your search results exactly to the casing of the query you typed.

    2. Whole Words will search only for the exact word you typed rather than suggesting words that contain your query. To enable either of these options, flip the toggles to On.

  4. Once you've entered your query, you'll see a numerical indicator in the search box of how many times that word or phrase occurs in your presentation.

    Use the up or down arrows to scroll through where the found term occurs in your presentation.

  1. To search your file for certain words or phrases, tap Search magnifying glass icon Search in the upper-right corner. and select Find.

  2. Enter a word or phrase you want to find in your document or workbook.

  3. Once you've entered your query, you'll see a numerical indicator in the search box of how many times that word or phrase occurs in your document or workbook.

    • Find finds the word or phrase you're looking for in your document or workbook.

    • Find and Replace finds a word or phrase and replace it with a different word or phrase.

    • Find and Replace All finds all instances of a word or phrase and replaces them all with a different word or phrase.

    • Match Case matchs your search results exactly to the casing of the query you typed.

    • Whole Words searches only for the exact word you typed rather than suggesting words that contain your query.

    • Sounds like finds all words that sound similar to the query. (For example, it would find both caught and cot).

Find for Android phones and tablets

Note: Currently, PowerPoint doesn't support Find and Replace.

  1. To search your presentation for certain words or phrases, tap Find Magnifying glass button Find On the ribbon.

  2. Enter a word or phrase you want to find in your presentation.

  3. To get to more search options, tap Settings/options gear icon More Options to the left of the search box.

    • Match Word will search only for the exact word you typed rather than suggesting words that contain your query.

    • Match Case will match your search results exactly to the casing of the query you typed.

  4. Once you've entered your query, you'll see a numerical indicator in the search box of how many times that word or phrase occurs in your presentation.

  4. To get to more search options, tap Settings/options gear icon More Options to the left of the search box.

    • Find simply finds the word or phrase you're looking for in your workbook.

    • Find and Replace finds a word or phrase and replaces it with a different word or phrase.

    • Find and Replace All find all instances of a word or phrase and replaces them all with a different word or phrase.

    • Sheet finds words just within the sheet you're on.

    • Workbook searches all the sheets in your workbook.

    • Match Case matches your search results exactly to the casing of the query you typed.

    • Entire Cell Contents searches only for the exact word or phrase in your selected cell rather than suggesting words that contain your query.

  1. To search your file for certain words or phrases, tap ⋮ More Options and select Find Magnifying glass button Find in the upper-right corner.

  2. Enter a word or phrase you want to find in your document.

  3. Once you've entered your query, you'll see a numerical indicator in the search box of how many times that word or phrase occurs in your document or workbook.

    You can then use the <> arrows to scroll through where the found term occurs in your document.
