To hide text:

Select the text to hide and on the Home tab, select theÂ
 Font dialog box launcher in the Font group. -
Under Effects, choose Hidden and select OK.
To unhide text:

Select the lines or pages with the hidden text or press Ctrl+A to select everything.

On the Home tab, select theÂ
 Font dialog box launcher in the Font group. -
Under Effects, clear the check box next to Hidden and select OK.
Important: To see which text is hidden and will not appear when printed, on the File tab, select Options and choose Display. Under Always show these formatting marks on the screen, select the check box next to Hidden text and select OK. Hidden text is now visible with a light gray underline.

Select the text to hide and on the Format menu, select Font.

Under Effects, choose Hidden and select OK.

Important: To show hidden text, on the Word tab, select Preferences and choose View. Under Show Non-printing Characters, select Hidden text, and close Preferences. Hidden text is now visible with a light gray underline.
Hiding text isn't currently possible in Word for the web. You can, however, make hidden text in the Word desktop app.

To open the desktop app, at the top of the ribbon, select Editing > Open in Desktop App.
