Every one-to-one and group chat in Microsoft Teams Free has chat details where you can find shared files and more. You can also choose to hide, mute, or mark your chats as unread.
Hide or mute a chat
Hide a chat to remove it from your Recent chat list. If someone messages you in that chat, it'll no longer be hidden. Mute a chat to stop receiving notifications for the chat. You can still view a muted chat in your Recent chat list.
- In the Chat
tab, tap and hold on your chat.
- Tap Mute chat
or Hide chat
. If it's a one-on-one chat, you can also Block your contact.
Unhide a chat
- Search
for the chat name.
- Add new messages or content to the chat. The chat will then appear in your Chat
tab.
Mark chat as unread
In the Chat
tab, tap and hold your chat and tap Mark as unread.
Pin a chat
In the Chat
tab, tap and hold your chat and tap Pin chat
.
Chat details for one-on-one chat
In the Chat
tab, you will see different features are available for one-on-one chats. Select the chat you want to view. At the top of the screen, tap the chat header for the chat details.
You can also create a group chat that has additional customizations for your chat experience.

Hide or mute a chat

tab, right click or select More options
on the chat you'd like to mute or hide.

on your chat and select Mark as unread.
Tip
In the chat options, you can also add the chat to your Favorite list or Pop out chat to separate it from your main window.

on the chat you'd like to pin.
- Select Pin
