Your new PC includes a 1-month trial of Microsoft 365 Family. If you don't want to buy Office when your trial ends, here are the ways you can write letters, take notes, and send email with your new PC.

Office apps

Use Office Online for free

Create, share, and collaborate from anywhere using the online versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more. All you need is a desktop browser and a Microsoft account.

Use OneNote for free

OneNote is a digital notebook that automatically saves and syncs your notes. You'll need to create a Microsoft account to use OneNote.

  1. Press the Start button Windows Start button in Windows 8 and Windows 10 on the lower-left corner of your screen.

  2. Type OneNote, and then select the OneNote icon. (Make sure you don't select the OneNote 2016 icon.)

Windows 10 apps

WordPad is a basic word processor that's included with Windows 10.

  1. Press the Start button Windows Start button in Windows 8 and Windows 10 on the lower-left corner of your screen.

  2. Type WordPad, and then select the WordPad icon.

Mail is an email app that's included with Windows 10.

  1. Press the Start button Windows Start button in Windows 8 and Windows 10 on the lower-left corner of your screen.

  2. Type Mail, and then select the Mail icon.
