Important:Â Only install the Class Notebook Add-in if you use OneNote 2021 and still need the legacy add-in. The add-in is out of support and is not the recommended Class Notebook path. In current OneNote experiences, use the built-in Class Notebook toolbar instead.
For OneNote for the web, OneNote for Windows, and OneNote for Mac, use the built-in Class Notebook toolbar. To turn it on in OneNote desktop, see Enable the Class Notebook toolbar in OneNote desktop.
If you use OneNote 2021 and your school still needs the legacy add-in, you can install it manually.

Make sure you have OneNote 2021 desktop, permission to install software on this device, and the most recent OneNote update available for your organization.

Close OneNote.

Download Class Notebook Add-in.

Save ClassNotebook.Setup.exe and select Run. Follow the directions on your screen.

Open OneNote 2021 desktop. The Class Notebook tab should display in the OneNote ribbon.
